But what can I do as a SAM? It makes sense that the boss was designed this way (although to me the HP recovery feels arbitrary and needless) and in the prime days of FFXI it was intended to have mages help you.
I know full well that the issue could be resolved with simple spells such as bind. I've read that having tanks to provoke it might interrupt it, but I have no control at all on trust actions so I'm stuck just endlessly fighting this thing until the stars align and he doesn't reach the spawn point by some miracle. I've tried positioning me and the trusts using the landscape to prevent its escape but the damn thing just finds a way every time. I've read that the NM goes back to its spawning point to recover health (the first time I didn't notice and just thught the healing was a bug, since I was fighting him on the spot) but its movement is completely unpredictable to me. I know I could level up all the way to 99 (I'm lv50 SAM currently) and make short work of it but I'm against spoiling the challange for the whole storyline for just a single bad (side) encounter. The main issue is obviously the fact that the boss keeps healing to full at an absurd rate. Aside from this quest being incredibly tedious from the start, I feel like this NM has become a roadblock for me and killed my enthusiasm for the game. I'm at the 3-3 one, Windurst part, I have to get an item from the NM Lioumere and then climb the mountain. I'm a new player playing mostly solo and I'm doing the CoP missions. Sorry if this is not a question, more of a rant.
